An Atlanta Police officer, Garret Rolfe has been charged with murder for shooting a 27-year-old man in the back, justice officials announced Wednesday.
it was less than three weeks Rayshard Brooks’ shooting came after a Minneapolis police officer’s killing of handcuffed African American George Floyd on 25th of May, which tirggered a national uproar over racism and police brutality in the United States
Atlanta District Attorney Paul Howard said Police Officer Garret Rolfe had no explanation for shooting Brooks as he fled, and provoked the case by kicking his body as he lay on the ground bleeding
He also said that Rolfe and fellow officer violated different several police department rules and reguations.
At the time Mr Brooks was shot, the victim did not display an immediate threat of death or serious physical injury to the officers, Howard Said.
