Court stops Obaseki from PDP primary

A federal High Court Sitting in port Harcourt, Rivers State has barred Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state from Participating in the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary slated for Thursday, June 25, 2020.

According to the documents, the suit was set in motion by one of the governorship aspirants of the PDP, Omoregie Ogbeida-Ihama, who had vowed not to step down for the governor

Ogbeide-Ihama appealed the court to stop Obaseki from contesting under the Umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party reason been that he recently joined the and that only those who purchased the forms during the stipulated time should be allowed

He also questioned the validity of Obaseki’s certificate

While the primary was fixed to june 25, INEC had fixed the governorship election for September 19, 2020
