Ebunoluwa Arowosegbe with the stage name Ebun-Gchord is a talented Musician and Musicologist birthed in Music. The fast rising singer has created a distinctive musical world with her brilliant creativity and the exquisite features her songs possess.
Ebunoluwa, a songwriter whose songs cut across morals, lifestyle, happiness, and truth gives credit to her father who laid down the path she choose today. Mr Arowosegbe being a pastor and lover of music encouraged his children to love music and taught them the basics so as to be great icons in the music world later on.
Ebun-Gchord started her music career as a chorister in the church. However it wasn’t music for her from the start, she was a lover of fine art, and she wanted to pursue the career. “Initially, I wanted to study fine art because I love to draw and my interest was all into that until I was given admission to polytechnic of Eruwa”.
“However I couldn’t go because of the distance and all. But I see music as a passionate calling so I decided to work on that and thank God I never regretted my action. My father taught me the rudiments of music, after that I decided to study music professionally. All thanks to God and my parents for their support” she said.
Born and brought up in music, Ebun pointed out that it was a good start to her life and career. Her songs hits the soul because she is careful enough to be spontaneous In her compositions. She is inspired by songs that talks about life, value and nature. Likewise, a lover of gospel, motivational, inspirational and philosophical songs.
Her music are beautifully made and their uniqueness is due to her style of singing. “My songs are philosophical, motivational and traditional. What makes them unique is my style of singing folk songs, adding the western feeling in a jazzy-like way and chant which compliments my african richness and color” she said.
Like most upcoming artiste, the journey has been quite challenging for her. Finance to fund some music projects, getting people to acknowledge her works, recognition and most times environmental factors too can be quite a challenge. Nevertheless, she said “The journey has also been a blessing, I have met a lot of people, been to a lot of places, and still exploring by God’s grace”.
Ebun-Gchord has performed at so many events, both outdoor and indoor. She has a lot of compositions and has released a video this year tiled ‘Sound of Laughter’ which expresses hope for humanity during this pandemic, hope of laughter, joy and happiness.
She keeps working tirelessly as she intends to release a new single titled ‘IGBA’ (Time) very soon.
Ebunoluwa belives the Music industry is doing fine. However, there are people that have great contents, talents and skills but are being denied the opportunity to sell or show it to the world due to discrimination and all. There are also people majorly there just as opportunist.
Amongst many others, her top five favorite artists are Angelique Kidjo, Adekunle Gold, Ella Fitzgerald, Shaffy Bello and Mo Abudu.
Ebun-Gchord is also an instrumentalist, she plays the violin, guitar and the piano.
Her talents, skills, and passion for music are incredibly wonderful.
The beautiful artiste challenged other upcoming musicians to be persistent in what they do. “keep doing what you know how to do best and God will bless the works of your hands” she said.
