Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra state, has said that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate may win Anambra state, contradicting his earlier claim that Peter Obi cannot and would not win the 2023 presidential election.
The governor stated, in an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today, that while he wishes Peter Obi success in his ambition to become Nigeria’s next president, his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), is also competing
According to Soludo, even though it is becoming increasingly apparent that Peter Obi may win the most votes in Anambra state in the presidential election, it is nonetheless essential to keep in mind that Obi is competing against other candidates.
His words:
“I wish Peter Obi the best of luck. Let him go and compete as others,” “We (APGA) are also competing in the same race. “We have our own candidate (Peter Umeadi), who is also the son of the soil, coincidentally from Anambra State as well, and he will do his own bit, get his own votes.”
According to Vanguard, Soludo said he doubts that the LP’s flag bearer will win at the national level in his open letter from November 2022 regarding Peter Obi’s performance as governor of Anambra State and his desire to run for president.
He added: “In that piece, I even considered that Peter Obi might win in Anambra State. I did mention that.”
