Olona Joseph Oluwapelumi, a 300-level student at the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA, in Ondo state, reportedly took her own life due to depression and financial difficulties.
It was reported that Olona killed himself in his off-campus lodge in the Aule neighborhood of the state capital.
Reporters learned that the student in the department of industrial design committed suicide.
When his friends went to see him yesterday morning, they found that his room was locked, and the door had been broken after they called several times without getting a response.
After they entered the room, they later discovered his hanging body.
According to the report, the buckets he used to help with the crime were found in the room.
According to some of his friends, the deceased’s Facebook page contained a post about having suicidal thoughts.
They went on to say that a number of his posts also contained messages in which he asked for financial support to run his business.
They claim that on October 8th, he wrote on his Facebook page, “Suicide kinda answers all, it’s the only thing that listens and trusts You when You left everything to yourself “Good night and Goodbye.” However, in a statement that was signed by the President of the Student Union, Jesunifemi Asoore, the leadership of the Students Union stated, “It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our colleague and friend, Olona often referred to as Tart Angle. who passed away on January 21, 2023, Saturday.
The report states, “His death was confirmed in the early hours of Saturday, January 21, 2023.” It was reported that the deceased, Olona Joseph, a 300-level student in the department of Industrial Design, hanged herself in the early hours of today.

Funmi Odunlami, the image maker for the state police, stated that the student’s death had been reported to the police.
“His body had been taken to the morgue, and investigation has begun to unravel the reasons behind his action, but it was a case of suicide,” Odunlami stated.
As of last night, the authority over the university had yet to issue an official statement.
