In this 15th edition of the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) collaboration mission, the delegation visited institutions in British Columbia and Ontario.

The delegation also attended the Canadian Bureau for International Education’s (CBIE) Annual Conference. CBIE is a national, bilingual organization that administers the Global Affairs Canada International Scholarships Program (ISP) and organizes the ELAP collaboration missions.

About the ELAP collaboration mission

The collaboration mission is a key feature of the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program that offers over 450 scholarships per year to students from Latin America and the Caribbean to pursue short-term study and research exchanges at Canadian colleges and universities. In the past five years, over 3,000 college, undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty members and professional staff, from post-secondary institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean, have benefited from Global Affairs Canada funded short-term exchange scholarships.

Between 2009 and 2021, key highlights from ELAP collaboration missions include:

  • Over 280 participants from 35 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean; and
  • Over 110 signed agreements between Canadian and Latin American and Caribbean institutions as a result of participation in the missions.
